Florida still atop list for elite defensive lineman with athletic profile perfect for Ron Roberts' defense

The Florida Gators just finished their first big recruiting weekend and made a lot of impact with multiple recruits. The biggest coup was securing the commitment of three-star interior offensive lineman G'Nivre Carr. They also made a major impact on five-star safety Bralan Womack, who could shape the defense in a major way.

Outside of the secondary, which had multiple visitors over the weekend, four-star defensive lineman JaReylan McCoy is a big target for head coach Billy Napier.

His visit was excellent on many levels, and McCoy made it clear how impressive the brotherhood within the team is.

“The brotherhood is crazy,” he said of the highlight of the visit. “They’re building something special over there. I mean we’re all football players, of course some people have bigger names, but we all love the game and we’re all doing the same hard work. At the end of the day, they kind of see their younger self in us and want to put us in the same situation as they are.”

McCoy is the 15th-ranked defensive lineman who can play across the defensive line. At nearly 6'7, McCoy can add on weight to his 245 lb frame if the Gators would prefer to kick him inside instead of playing him on the edge. Regardless of where they choose to play him, McCoy's size and incredible length will give him an advantage over just about everyone who will be blocking him at the college level.

Last week, McCoy named the Gators as a part of his top three with Texas and LSU. He initially committed to the Tigers, but has since swung over toward the Gators being the favorite.

This is McCoy's first official visit with Texas (June 6th), Ole Miss (June 13th), and LSU (June 20th) still to come.
