The Iowa Hawkeyes landed former Auburn quarterback Hank Brown from the transfer portal on Friday. In limited action as a redshirt freshman, the former 2022 three-star recruit threw for 403 yards for six touchdowns and three interceptions.
Brown had one start for Auburn this year, a 235-yard performance punctuated by four touchdown passes in a win over New Mexico. Unfortunately, in his next game against Arkansas, he threw three interceptions and was benched for the rest of the year in favor of senior Payton Thorne.
Iowa will have a crowded quarterback room next year with Brendan Sullivan and Jackson Stratton returning, along with true freshmen Ryan Fitzgerald and Jimmy Sullivan.

Brown, originally from Wheaton, Illinois, has three years of eligibility remaining. He initially committed to Liberty, where head coach Hugh Freeze was, before earning the head coaching job at Auburn. When Freeze switched schools, so did Brown.
Iowa offensive coordinator Tim Lester is from the same area of Illinois as Brown.
It's been rumored that Auburn football was in the mix for former Oklahoma quarterback Jackson Arnold. Whether he chooses the Tigers or not, the writing was on the wall for Brown as the team was interested in moving in a different direction at quarterback.
