The Georgia Bulldogs needed a huge victory coming off the disappointing loss to Alabama last weekend and quarterback Gunner Stockton delivered with a massive bounce back game on Saturday.
Through less than three quarters of action Stockton led the Bulldogs to a 35-7 lead, tallying nearly 250 total yards and three scores himself. Yes, he threw the one interception, but overall he dominated through the air and on the ground. If he continues taking steps forward like this Georgia fans should expect to see their team playing into January.
Kirby Smart spent the week talking through how this matchup with Kentucky was going to be all about physicality, and the media wanted to spend a ton of time on the running game (especially Nate Frazier's fumbling), but this victory was all about Gunner Stockton and his play at quarterback.
Yes, the Bulldogs did score four rushing touchdowns, and rack up 180 yards on the ground, but this was Stockton's coming out party as a field general who can do it all. The first two drives for Georgia were masterful in execution, spanning 12 and 13 plays respectively. Both ended with a Gunner Stockton rushing touchdown.

Stockton had finally shown he could make some big time throws against Tennessee. He started showing improved signs of managing critical situations against Alabama. This week was different. Stockton put it all together, all game long.
Stockton ran at the right times, avoiding every pressure, taking zero sacks, and averaging eight yards per carry. He executed consistently in the passing game, taking what the defense was giving him, layering a few impressive intermediate shots just out of the reach of Wildcats defenders. Stockton just simply had all the answers, every time Georgia needed them, and he made it look like an SEC team didn't even belong on the same field as him.
Stockton is still an unfinished product. He's not completely perfect by any means. However, it's great to see him playing this well, this under control as the leader for Georgia just four games into his first season as a starter.
