Georgia Expected to Lose Battle for Highly Touted Playmaker to Florida State

The Georgia Bulldogs have climbed the 2026 recruiting rankings in recent weeks. But even two-time national champion head coach Kirby Smart can't win them all.

While the Bulldogs sit in the final three schools with four-star wide receiver Brandon Bennett, On3's Chad Simmons doesn't anticipate Georgia landing the highly coveted wideout.

On Tuesday, Simmons predicted Bennett to commit to the Florida State Seminoles.

"Brandon Bennett is focused on Florida, Florida State and Georgia. He is a big target for the Seminoles and the ACC program in Tallahassee are trending," Simmons wrote . "They made him feel like a priority on the visit and a decision could be nearing. We like Mike Norvell’s program."

Bennett narrowed his recruitment down to three schools just before his visit to Georgia during the final weekend of May.

Initially after the visit, the Bulldogs appeared to gain ground on the Seminoles.

“It was just really building a relationship with everybody, the whole staff, and going through and feeling what it’s like, the facilities, and looking at how everything is if I were to come here,” Bennett told On3's Jeremy Johnson.

Yet, Simmons is still predicting Bennett to head to Florida State.

The Bulldogs will have to hope that prediction is wrong similar to the way On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine was at the beginning of the month.

The On3 machine projected Bennett to pick the Miami Hurricanes, but Miami didn't finish among the receiver's top three choices.

Based on the 247Sports composite rankings, Bennett is the No. 33 receiver in the 2026 recruiting class. The wideout is also the No. 34 Florida prospect and 218th-ranked overall recruit for 2026.
