Kirby Smart is looking forward to taking on Alabama football in Athens in September when the Bulldogs welcome the Crimson Tide.
Alabama defeated Georgia 41-34 in 2024, and it was one of the most exciting games of the college football season.
The Bulldogs and the Crimson Tide have battled it out in memorable games in recent years. Those matchups have taken place during the regular season, in the SEC Championship game and in the College Football Playoff. The last time one of their contests took place in Athens was in October 2015.
Smart wishes Alabama took on Georgia more in Athens.
“They’ll come to our place and play,” Smart said. “Tremendous atmosphere. I know a lot of people from Tuscaloosa coming over to the game. Athens, the city loves it. We bring a great environment. It’s what college football is about. This game is about playing great matchups like that. It’s what the fan bases want. It’s what the nation wants. It’s what college football needs. It’s what college football, the SEC is about. Alabama at home, at our place, wish it could happen more often. Seems like we’ve played over there three or four times since they’ve come to see us in play. It’s a great opportunity and look forward to it.”
Alabama and Georgia will collide on Sept. 27.
