The No. 2 Texas Longhorns square off against the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta for the SEC Championship.
This game will be a rematch from Week 8 in October, when Georgia beat the Longhorns 30-15. It was the only loss on the season for Texas, whereas the Bulldogs lost to Ole Miss and Alabama. Texas has the unique opportunity to win the SEC title in it's first year in the conference, but Georgia knows what it takes to win the big game.
The Longhorns are rolling, winning four of their last five games by double-digits. Their defense has been dominant, allowing the second-fewest points and third-lowest amount of total yards in the nation. Texas' offense is led by one of the best quarterbacks in the FBS in Quinn Ewers, and a three-headed monster rushing attack featuring Quintrevion Wisner, Jaydon Blue, and Jerrick Gibson.
The Bulldogs are coming off perhaps the most thrilling game of the season in which they defeated Georgia Tech 44-42 in eight overtimes. They are riding a three-game winning streak, including a huge victory over Tennessee three weeks ago. Nate Frazier and Trevor Etienne are a dynamic running back duo, and quarterback Carson Beck ranks eighth in the nation in both passing yards and touchdowns.
Here are the best odds, bets and predictions for this matchup.
*Odds from Caesars Sportsbook and subject to change
Georgia: +115
Texas: -135
This game should be much tighter than their matchup back in October. Texas did a great job of regrouping after losing to Georgia and finishing the season strong. The Longhorns' defense can limit any offense in the nation, and their offense is efficient at controlling the pace of the game.
The Bulldogs have been on shaky ground since beating Texas. Their offense has been inconsistent and falling behind early in games. Georgia hasn't been as good as most thought it would be defensively, either. The Bulldogs will stay in striking distance, but I think Texas will control the game and seal the deal in the end.
Georgia: +2.5 (-115)
Texas: -2.5 (-105)
Georgia is 3-9 against the spread this season, and this is a tight one. Since I think Texas will stay a step ahead, I'm betting the Longhorns to cover.
Over: -110
Under: -110
The Longhorns have allowed over 20 points just twice this year, and their total has hit the under in four of their last five games. With the Bulldogs' inconsistencies on offense and Texas playing ball control, I'll bet the under.
