It was an impressive 2024 season for the Colorado Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders, who went 9-4, marking the program's first winning season since 2016 when they went 10-4.
However, they're losing many key starters, including quarterback Shedeur Sanders, wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter, wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr., safety Cam'Ron Silmon Craig and defensive end BJ Green II.
Despite that, in a video posted to the "ESPN College Football" YouTube channel, analyst Greg McElroy shared what he expects out of Colorado in 2025.
“Colorado might be able to replicate or at least get close to replicating their win total,” he said. “They’re probably not going to have as much star power as they had the last couple years… Their win total’s at six and a half, and to be honest with you, I kind of lean towards the over with where this program is currently heading even though there’s some big names that are gone from the program this past season.”
McElroy's prediction that Colorado may win at least seven games is bold, considering they rank 89th in returning production (50%), per ESPN.
That includes retaining only 44% of offensive production (ranked 99th) and 55% of defensive production (ranked 66th), with the two biggest losses being Sanders and Hunter.
However, Deion and Colorado, just like many other programs, were very busy in the transfer portal, with a class that ranks No. 26 in the nation and No. 3 in the Big 12.
That includes players such as four-star defensive lineman Jahiem Oatis, three-star quarterback Kaidon Salter, Three-star offensive lineman Joseph Williams and three-star cornerback Makari Vickers.
