A former Tennessee Vols offensive lineman is reportedly stepping away from college football.
On3 reported that former Tennessee offensive lineman Ayden Bussell is stepping away from the sport due to a health issue.
Bussell, a former three-star recruit from Mt. Juliet, TN, signed with the Vols during the 2023 recruiting cycle. He transferred to West Virginia in May.
The Tennessee native played in three games for the Vols last season (Bussell played 62 snaps as a redshirt freshman in 2024).
According to the report from On3, Bussell is stepping away from football to deal with a "serious but private health matter that requires his full attention".
“At this time, Ayden’s health and long-term well-being are our top priorities. He has the full support of his family, our agency, and the people who care about him most,” said Bussell's agent, Kevin White, in a statement to On3. "Ayden is thankful for the understanding and support he has received during this difficult time.”
