The Tennessee Volunteers have made the running game a significant priority under head coach Josh Heupel over the last few years. That is likely to remain the case going forward.
So naturally, the Volunteers are already targeting the top in-state running back in the 2027 recruiting class. Four-star running back David Gabriel Georges has his eyes on Tennessee as well.
Georges was back in Knoxville, Tennessee again in early June and raved about how well his visit went.
"It was great as always," Georges told On3's Steve Wiltfong on June 5. "I've been up there a couple times now. I'm familiar with the place and coaching staff. It's always a good vibe.
"The Vols look like they are building something special, and they see me as a key contributor. That is pretty cool."
In addition to being the top Tennessee running back in the 2027 class, Georges is the No. 2 in-state prospect overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.
Furthermore, Georges is the No. 4 running back and 43rd-ranked player in the class.

The Volunteers have been hosting 2027 recruits in recent weeks. Many of the program's top 2027 targets were in Knoxville over the first few days of June.
Tennesse has yet to land a commitment in the future class.
For 2026, the Volunteers have eight verbal commits but none of them are running backs. Tennessee signed two running backs in the 2025 class -- three-star players Daune Morris and Justin Baker.
The Volunteers also landed running back transfer Star Thomas from the Duke Blue Devils.
