The Texas Longhorns went into Week 1 of the college football season ranked as the No. 1 team in the country, but left their game at Ohio State with a 14-7 loss and questions about quarterback Arch Manning after months of him being propped up as a generational player.

Following the loss, Texas has fallen to No. 7 in the country in the AP Top 25, while the Buckeyes have leapt to the No. 1 spot. As Texas looks to regroup after becoming the first No. 1 team since 1990 to lose its season opener, the Longhorns are preparing to take on the San Jose State Spartans on Saturday.

It's a game that could again see them without a key player on offense in Stanford Cardinal transfer Emmett Mosley V, who is dealing with a leg injury that kept him out of the Ohio State game. According to On Texas Football's CJ Vogel, the status of the sophomore receiver, who was expected to play a significant role this season, is "up in the air."

That's a concerning development, considering head coach Steve Sarkisian made it clear after the game that the young receivers on the roster have yet to earn enough trust to play.

When speaking to the media after the game, Sarkisian revealed that he was only comfortable playing four wide receivers despite bringing in multiple blue-chip recruits as a part of Texas' No. 1 2025 recruiting class.

"I don't think any of those other guys were really ready for that moment against that secondary," Sarkisian said.

Among the notable youngsters who many thought could see the field early was the nation's No. 2 wide receiver Kaliq Lockett, four-star receiver Jaime Ffrench Jr. and the nation's No. 1 athlete, Michael Terry III.

With Texas' next three games against Group of Five programs, it could be an opportunity for young players to see some action, but having Mosley back would certainly make things easier on the offense.

In his lone year at Stanford, Mosley recorded 48 catches for 525 yards and six touchdowns.
