The Fighting Illini's senior outside linebacker Seth Coleman knows what makes a good team is the importance of setting team boundaries.
In other words, to focus on doing your job and not telling others how to do theirs.
As the Fighting Illini approach the new season, which is expected to be an uphill climb, one of the most crucial things they got to do is hone in on maintaining those boundaries.
For example, Coleman cannot tell Kaden Feagan how to be a better running back and vice versa. If anything were to happen, that can spell trouble going forward.
At the Big Ten Media Days in Indianapolis, Coleman spoke at length about how feels the team is already starting to build trust amongst themselves while acknowledging what his own obligations are of his position.
“I think we are taking those steps and trusting each other to do what we need to do,” he said. “We’re not worried about the next person like when you start trying to do other people’s job. That’s when bad things happen and like when you try to do more than you’re asked you got to keep the main thing. I’m an outside linebacker. I don’t need to be worried about what they’re doing like I have to trust them they know what they are doing. I know what I’m doing. When you do that you’re a good team”.
