After Spring practice, transfer Jack Pyburn talked about the reasons that he came to LSU. He said, “My whole journey, my whole life I felt like I’ve been trying to prove a lot of people wrong. You know, people told me I couldn’t do certain things. I couldn’t be this, I couldn’t be that, I couldn’t make it to play this level of football. Overall, at this point in my life, I decided to take a chance on myself and just stop listening to those kind of thoughts. Just believe in myself and prove myself right…I’m just ready to show the country who I really am.”

Pyburn also spoke about what led him to play for LSU. He said, “I wanted to play for a team that had great history. There was passion behind it. My stepmom is from Hammond, Louisiana. I've got a lot of connections here, so many family friends here, so it feels like a home away from home.”

He went on to say, “It’s just fun. I love football. Where else would I rather be? Especially now that I get paid to play the game I love in college and get a great education at a great school. [To be around] amazing people and have all the best facilities. Why wouldn’t you come to work and be happy?”

Pyburn is from Jacksonville, FL and played three years at the University of Florida. Before that, he attended the Bolles School and led his team to a state championship in 2020.

Pyburn had his most impressive college season with the Gators last year, recording 60 tackles, including four tackles for loss and one sack. He is optimistic that his transition to Louisiana will help him reach new heights.
