Jayden Maiava caught fire behind center for USC football to end 2024. He tossed seven combined touchdowns in the final two games, including four during the Las Vegas Bowl.

But the UNLV quarterback transfer shared a strong admission about adjusting to his new school. Maiava answered if he endured moments where he needed to change on the football field. He shared this admission, per WeAreSC

"I was kind of lost in some ways," Maiava revealed. "But I definitely found my way."

How did he manage to find his way as he took control of QB1 duties?

"Being able to connect with these coaches -- I mean these coaches have been a huge help for me," Maiava said.

He now feels like a changed QB as he's projected to lead the USC and Lincoln Riley offense once again.

"I've been more intentful in everything I do," Maiava said.

Maiava still admits he has a problem "being hard on myself." But embraces the next snap opportunity. He knows that being his harshest critic could rub off on the rest of his teammates. Maiava envisions being less harder on his mental state.

He's given himself more time to prepare. Maiava unveiled that he spent "countless" hours in the film room with both his coaches and teammates to dissect the offense and pinpoint where to improve. Maiava admitted he watched his "happy feet" when observing the film from last year. He's aiming to eliminate that flaw this season.

He then shared his true feelings about the 2025 Trojans as they've returned to spring practice.

"I feel better about this year and I feel better about this team," Maiava said.

Maiava joins two newcomers in the QB room for spring ball. Five-star Husan Longstreet and former five-star Pac-12 rival Sam Huard (Washington, Utah) have joined Maiava in throwing the ball.
