Josh Heupel's most recent comments should concerns over recent report concerning Tennessee Vols DB Boo Carter

Tennessee Vols fans expressed some concern earlier this week after a report surfaced stating that sophomore defensive back Boo Carter was late to at least one practice.

Carter is working his way back into the good graces of coaches and teammates after missing some team activities over the summer.

“I got a tip today,” said Tony Basilio on his show on Tuesday. “And the tip is that Carter, since he got back, came late to a practice. And then I started asking around, and I think it was two practices. But one at least, but maybe two.”

If Carter is going to play in a key role for the Vols in 2025, he'll have to handle business off the field. And showing up late to a practice doesn't exactly qualify as "handling business".

Vols head coach Josh Heupel, however, made a comment on Friday after Tennessee's second scrimmage that seemed to suggest that Carter is still on the right track, despite the report from Basilio.

“Boo was out there with us today and got work," said Heupel when asked about Carter's involvement in the scrimmage on Friday. "[At the] end of the day, it’s day to day. He’s done some things in a good way here.”

Carter is still working his way back into a full-time role with the team. But based on his involvement in the scrimmage, it doesn't sound like there's been any major setback for the dynamic defensive back.

And that's a good thing for the Vols -- there's no doubt that Tennessee is a better team with Boo Carter on the field.
