Kalen DeBoer updates Alabama’s injuries with Georgia matchup looming

The University of Alabama football team earned a 42-10 victory over Wisconsin, but it suffered some injuries.

Malachi Moore (defensive back), Qua Russaw (outside linebacker), and Richard Young (running back) had to leave the game against the Badgers at Camp Randall Stadium. Moore took a hit to the head, while Russaw and Young both sustained lower body injuries last week. Kalen DeBoer updated all three players and wide receiver Cole Adams on Monday in the bye week.

He mentioned “positive signs” or steps with Moore, Russaw, and Adams. Russaw ‘should be able do some things’ later in the week for the Crimson Tide, per DeBoer. Young, a second-year player, was the lone player DeBoer did not say positive signs about.

He suffered his injury in the second half versus Wisconsin.

“I am not sure on Richard,” DeBoer said. “We have gotta continue to evaluate.”

Based on this answer, Young’s injury could be more significant than the others. Hopefully, it is not the case for Alabama — especially with the strong depth it had in the running back room going into the season. Alabama is hopeful to get all these players rested up and healthy for a Southeastern Conference showdown with the Georgia Bulldogs next week.
