Missouri running back, Ahmad Hardy is a running back, who could give Alabama football problems on Saturday.

Hardy is currently the SEC’s leading rusher. He has rushed for 730 yards and nine touchdowns on 103 carries through five games. Alabama’s defensive coordinator Kane Wommack is currently working to put his team in a good position to stop the talented back.

“I think he’s a fantastic back,” Wommack told reporters on Monday. “I think he is very physical. I think he has great patience in the run game, does a really nice job of making either the first guy miss or breaking the tackle. And then when he’s out in space, he can create the explosive play. Ultimately, any great run team, when they’re committed to running the football, it’s like body blows in a boxing match.”

Wommack believes the Tigers have a potent rushing attack with Hardy and Jamal Roberts leading the way. The Alabama defensive coordinator feels it is imperative Alabama makes sound tackles against both backs.

“They are able to create seams in the run game through different variations of zone-scheme, and they’ve got some gap schemes that are pretty good,” Wommack said. “They do a nice job and their backs, they break tackles. Rarely does the first guy get either one of their first two backs down. So, you’ve got to swarm to the ball. You’ve got to gang tackle.”

Alabama football will look to bring their hard hats and be sound tacklers on defense when the Tide line up across from Hardy and the Missouri rushing attack inside of Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium on Saturday.
