Michigan Wolverines kicker Jake Moody set a school record in style during Saturday's Fiesta Bowl CFP semifinal.
With the final seconds of the first half ticking down, Moody nailed a line-drive 59-yard field goal, setting the single-season record for points scored by a Wolverine. Moody tops Michigan great Desmond Howard, whose 138 points stood as the mark since 1991.

Moody's 59-yarder wasn't only a career-long but also broke the Michigan record of 57 yards, set by Quinn Nordin in the 2020 Citrus Bowl. The senior's long field goal also holds the distinction of being the second longest in bowl game history.
Jake Moody's 59-yard FG at the end of the half was the longest in @UMichFootball history and the second longest in bowl history.

As Ben Stevens of Sportsgrid points out, Moody has put together a fantastic 2022 season. On top of his historic 59-yard FG, the Big Ten kicker of the year is 10-for-10 on field goals between 30 and 39 yards and 58-for-58 on extra points with three field goals of 50 or more yards.
Earlier this week, during Michigan's media day, Moody was gathered off to the side alongside the rest of the Wolverines' specialists, playing cards. Moody told Jordan Strack of WTOL in Toledo, "We know our place." It appears that Moody's place is at the top of Michigan's record books after Saturday.
