Last season didn't go to plan for Kyle Whittingham, and this season is more of the same as Utah has now lost seven straight games and has one left on the docket before the legendary head coach's 20th season with the program comes to a close.
Discussions of whether he should stay or go have begun to churn more and more with each passing week, and coach Whitt shed some more light on a potential 21st season at the helm in his game week press conference.
When asked about how he is feeling and if he is leaning one way or another, Whittingham said that mentally this season has taken a toll on him, but physically he still has plenty of gas in the tank. He also said that in regard to his future with the program, he will make his decision based on what is best for the team and the program rather than himself and his legacy.
Kyle Whittingham says he will make his decision about coaching next year based on what is best for the program, not what's best for him. @Utah_Football @OCShow801 @ESPN700

Whittingham and head coach-in-waiting Morgan Scalley have been operating hand in hand when it comes to the offensive coordinator search, and Whittingham also is working in tandem with the defensive coordinator when it comes to recruiting and transfer portal fishing from here on out.
While this has been the "most frustrating season" of Whittingham's career, he still seems as invested as ever, and working side by side with Scalley shows that even though the transition period is underway, it may not be complete until Whitt completes his 21st season.
