Lane Kiffin trolls Tennessee fans after basketball loss to Ole Miss with a pair of gif images in a social media post

Current Ole Miss and ex-Tennessee football coach Lane Kiffin loves to have fun at the expense of his former employer, particularly on social media.  That trend continued late on Wednesday night after a tough result for the Tennessee basketball team in Oxford, Mississippi.

Shortly after the Vols fell to Ole Miss 78-76, Kiffin thumbed out a post on Twitter/X designed to get under the skin of Vol fans.  He posted "No.... Thank you Ole Miss fans!!!" with gif images of a mustard bottle and a person hitting a golf ball.

It's a particularly ironic move, given Ole Miss fans sent trash onto the court for the second time in six years against the Volunteers on Wednesday night.

As Tennessee fans all well know, the scene at the end of the Vols' 31-26 loss to the Ole Miss Rebels back in 2021 was one filled with controversy and outrage.  Vol fans regrettable lobbed a number of items onto the Neyland Stadium surface after the game, which included a mustard bottle and a golf ball.

Kiffin was the head coach of the Vols for just one season in 2008 after succeeding Phillip Fulmer.  He abruptly left Knoxville after a 7-6 season to accept the job at USC.  He was fired early in the 2013 season after compiling a 28-15 record in Los Angeles.

He's had more success in Oxford, winning 10 or more games in 3 of the last 4 seasons since taking the job in 2020.  However, Josh Heupel has gotten the Vols to 10+ wins in two of the last three seasons while also securing the program's first College Football Playoff bid last year.  Something that Kiffin has spent an exorbitant amount of time on social media complaining about the last few months since his three-loss team was left out.

We'll see if Rick Barnes and Tennessee can have the last laugh on the hardwood when the NCAA Tournament gets underway later this month.
