Latest intel reveals where the Oregon Ducks stand with top 2026 targets Jett Washington, Jireh Edwards, and Joey O’Brien

It’s June, which means things are going to begin to heat up quickly in the world of the 2026 recruiting class. For the Oregon Ducks, a lot is going to happen over the next few weeks as they take in official visits from a long list of priority targets. We will have a much deeper understanding for what this potentially elite class will look like very soon.

Speaking of elite, head coach Dan Lanning and the Ducks staff has a chance to put together an elite safety class. They are in a solid position from several five-star talents on the back end. There are some interesting things to keep a close eye on, and consider.

One of the main names to know is Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman star Jett Washington. At 6-5 and 200 pounds, Washington is also a dominant basketball player for Bishop Gorman. He is a tremendous combination of length, explosiveness, and playmaking ability. According to some sources around the Oregon program, they believe they are in a very good spot with Washington.

They are most notably battling with USC, but the most frequent opinion out there is that the Ducks are the leader right now. That would be an incredible start to what could potentially be the best safety class in the country.

Another name to know is Upper Marlboro (Md.) St. Frances Academy standout Jireh Edwards, although the optimism has been going the opposite direction. After there being a lot of optimism about where things stand between them and Edwards early, the latest intel isn’t as ideal.

It sounds like the draw to the SEC, and most notably Georgia and Alabama, could be where Edwards is trending. It would be a big loss for the Ducks if they aren’t able to close on the 6-2, 205-pounds defender. He is scheduled to make his college decision on July 5th, so how this month plays out will be huge.

If the Ducks feel like they aren’t in a great spot for Edwards, there is an intention that the program will be turning up the heat on Glenside (Pa.) La Salle College athlete Joey O’Brien. The Pennsylvania native is scheduled to make his decision on June 20th, so there isn’t a ton of time left. Oregon will need to really develop a deeper understanding for where things stand.

O’Brien is going to pick between the Ducks, Notre Dame, Penn State, and Clemson. There is some positivity from each school, but clearly Oregon is battling. If they do turn up the heat, it’s assumed that a bigger NIL push will be one of the drivers. If that happens, the Ducks have a good chance to finish this one out.

If Oregon is able to get one of those two along with Washington, that is an elite group. There would be a whole lot of length, and insane upside. It will be interesting to watch how this situation, and hierarchy, plays out.
