When it comes to name, image and likeness deals, it’s foggy trying to determine what’s true and what’s fiction. Quinn Ewers reportedly turned down an eye-popping offer that boggles the mind.

Horns247 reported Thursday that Ewers turned down an $8-million offer from an undisclosed school before deciding to leave Texas.

At this point, Ewers doesn’t need money. When he first committed to Ohio State out of high school, it was reported that Ewers signed a NIL deal worth $1.4 million to sign with GT Sports Marketing.

Horns247 estimated that Ewers has earned approximately $6 million total during his three seasons at Texas.

Ewers, who typically avoids NIL questions, essentially admitted he got something to first attend Ohio State during the run-up to the Cotton Bowl.

“Me and my family had a pretty big opportunity in front of us that, you know, we felt that it was a good decision for me to go on and forego my senior year (at Southlake Carroll) and enroll early at Ohio State,” Ewers said before the game.

Late during the season, there was an unconfirmed report that Ewers received a $6-million offer to transfer to another school. Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman said to take numbers like that “with a grain of salt.”

Thus, it’s hard to see how someone would pay $8 million, but desperate boosters and coaches do desperate things. Ewers threw for more than 9,000 yards and won 27 games in three seasons as the starter for the Longhorns.

Ewers is projected anywhere from the second to fourth round in the NFL Draft, according to most mock drafts. It’s a thin draft for quarterbacks, and that might help Ewers float higher.
