LSU Adding 6-Time Pro Bowl Alumnus To Coaching Staff

LSU added a famous alum to its football staff.

On Wednesday, Brian Kelly announced the hiring of Kyle Williams as LSU's defensive lines coach. The former All-American returns to his alma mater seven years after concluding a decorated NFL career with the Buffalo Bills.

"Kyle brings an impressive resume to our staff," Kelly said in a school statement. "He's a quality individual with high character. He's a great husband and father and really someone you want recruiting student-athletes here to LSU. We are really excited about his addition to our staff."

Williams played under Nick Saban and Les Miles at LSU from 2003 to 2005. During his senior year, the defensive tackle registered 46 tackles, three sacks, and five pass break-ups for a unit that ranked third in the nation with 14.2 points allowed per game.

The Buffalo Bills selected Williams in the sixth round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He made six Pro Bowls in 13 seasons and garnered a second-team All-Pro nod in 2010 after posting a career-high 76 tackles with 5.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries.

In 183 career games, all with the Bills, Williams collected 609 tackles, 141 quarterback hits, and 48.5 sacks. He started all 16 games and made the Pro Bowl in his final 2018 season before retiring.
