LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier makes important life announcement that will affect him far past the football field this season

It's another big step forward in the life of Nussmeier, who has plenty of eyes on him this season. He's entering a pivotal season where the Tigers are expected to contend for a College Football Playoff berth, and he is among the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy. 

Along with this massive decision and life change, the LSU quarterback will still have to balance the pressure of being a starter in the SEC. Nussmeier took notable steps forward in his development a season ago, but this could be a difference maker of a season for him when it comes to an NFL future. 

Nussmeier isn't focused on his personal gain, though. Rather, the QB wants team success in what could be his final year in college football.

“For me, I’m just focused on our team,” Nussmeier said before his proposal, speaking on his NFL Draft projections. “I’m focused on our team goals and I’m focused on being the best that I can be for my teammates. Obviously, you can’t completely ignore all the outside noise. You’re lying if you say that you don’t hear it. So I definitely hear it.” -- On3.com

Nussmeier will also have his mind on the 2026 NFL Draft to some degree, at least, though. He is in plenty of first-rounds mock drafts early in the process, and some scouts project him as a top ten selection.
