The Ohio State Buckeyes' national championship came amid a stark improvement in the running game, spearheaded by a rapidly improving offensive line that paved the way for TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins.
The emergence of left guard Luke Montgomery impacted the Buckeyes' resurgence, culminating in a 34-23 national title game drubbing of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish that wasn't as close as the final score indicated.
On Saturday, Montgomery shared his thoughts on what departing offensive line coach Justin Frye did for the Buckeyes during his time in Columbus under coach Ryan Day and the title winning Buckeyes.
Frye is set to take the same post with the NFL's Arizona Cardinals.
"If only you guys knew how much he did for us and how much he cared," Montgomery said.
"Family for life!" the Buckeyes star from Findlay, Ohio said.
"Love you Coach, super happy for you and your family!"

Day has not selected a possible replacement.
Potential candidates include former Michigan and Stanford coach Tim Drevno and former Buckeyes offensive lineman LeCharles Bentley.
Alex Atkins, most recently the offensive coordinator under Mike Norvell at Florida State, has also been mentioned as a possible replacement for Frye as Frye prepares to embark on the next mission of his professional coaching journey.
