Florida State head coach Mike Norvell just lost a key piece of his wide receiver room.

Sophomore wideout Jalen Brown has been dismissed from the FSU football program, following his arrest on Saturday morning

According to court records in Leon County, Brown was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a third-degree felony.

The news was first reported by Noles247 and later confirmed by Osceola Rivals.

It marks another significant loss for the Seminoles’ receiver corps, which has seen major turnover this week.

Brown is now the third wide receiver to depart the program in the span of a few days, joining Jordan Scott and Hykeem Williams, both of whom recently entered the transfer portal.

Brown was expected to compete for a larger role this fall and had been in the mix for a possible starting spot—though he missed part of the spring due to injury.

A former four-star prospect out of Gulliver Prep in Miami, Brown transferred to Florida State after one season at LSU.

He was ranked as the No. 13 wide receiver and No. 80 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class, carrying high expectations with him to Tallahassee.

In his lone season at FSU, Brown totaled eight catches for 75 yards with no touchdowns.

While the talent was never in question, Brown’s stint in Tallahassee ends abruptly and unexpectedly.

The dismissal leaves FSU searching for answers at a position that was already thin—and adds another distraction heading into a pivotal offseason for Norvell’s squad.

With three receivers gone in a week, the pressure is on for Florida State to reload fast—either through the portal or internal development.
