Michigan football became a dominant running team late last season under coach Sherrone Moore, steamrolling its way to three consecutive wins to end the season.

The Wolverines were led in rushing by former four-star prospect Jordan Marshall in the ReliaQuest Bowl against Alabama, who sent a message to the Big Ten and college football as a whole that he has the makings of a force to be reckoned with in 2025.

Marshall is expected to compete with Alabama transfer Justice Haynes for the starting running back job this season in new offensive coordinator Chip Lindsay's offense.

Recently, Marshall was placed on a preseason watch list hinting at the talent he has among the nation's best running backs.

Marshall, who had 120 yards on 31 carries as a freshman last season playing behind Donovan Edwards and Kalel Mullings, was named as a player to watch this spring.

He was listed along with 13 other running backs including fellow Big Ten backfield star Darius Taylor of Minnesota by Luke Easterling of Athlon Sports

Easterling also listed the top ten running backs for the 2025 season including Jeremiyah Love of Notre Dame in the top spot, Nicholas Singleton of Penn State at number two, and Kaytron Allen of Penn State at number three.

Marshall has the talent to become a star this season, but his inexperience could lead to growing pains in the early going.

The Wolverines have a tough schedule that includes two early road games in America's heartland against Oklahoma on Sept. 6 and Nebraska on Sept. 20.
