Five-star quarterback Jared Curtis denied reports of his flipped commitment on Tuesday.

On3's Steve Wiltfong claimed Tuesday that Curtis told Georgia he plans to play for Vanderbilt instead. Landing 247Sports' No. 1 prospect from the class of 2026 would mark a monumental recruiting win for Clark Lea's program, but the reports may be premature.

Curtis disputed the new commitment on social media.

"Don’t know where all this is coming from," Curtis wrote. "Haven’t had a chance to talk to either school yet. I’ll keep y’all posted."

Curtis committed to Georgia in May, choosing the Bulldogs over Oregon, Alabama, Ohio State, and other prestigious programs. He previously backed off a 2024 pledge to join Kirby Smart's team to pursue other options.

Vanderbilt hasn't given up on the local talent, who was named MaxPreps Tennessee Player of the Year when leading Nashville Christian to a 2024 Division II-A state championship. Curtis unofficially visited the campus on Oct. 25 when the Commodores defeated Missouri.

That same day, comedian Nate Bargatze publicly implored Curtis to consider Vanderbilt during an ESPN appearance as the College GameDay guest picker.

"It's hard not to just remind Jared Curtis how much I would love for you to come to Vanderbilt. And we're local kids. We'll become best friends, bud," Bargatze told Curtis before jokingly offering him a movie role.

While reports indicated that Bargatze got his wish, the Commodores fan may have to hold off on celebrating. But if Curtis indeed flips to Vanderbilt, it'd mark a significant inflection point for a long-overlooked SEC program that's gone 10-2 behind quarterback Diego Pavia this season.

Andrew Ivins, 247Sports' director of scouting, compared Curtis to former Vanderbilt star Jay Cutler.

"Gifted quarterback prospect with the arm, size, creativity and swagger to emerge as a high-level distributor for a College Football Playoff contender," Ivins wrote of Curtis.

Curtis hasn't officially chosen Vanderbilt, but his agent has previously praised the program.

"There is a lot of great hype right now with Vanderbilt," Peter Webb of QB Reps said earlier this fall, per Wiltfong. "The city is hot right now. They beat LSU. They beat Bama last year. I think they’ve done a great job to pique his interest and get him to be curious about the program. There is a lot of good things happening with Vanderbilt."
