Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian has a 38-17 overall record and three postseason appearances since taking the job in 2021.
He has built Texas into what it is today through effective recruiting and continues to pursue top talent from around the country. However, he only has one commit from the 2027 class, in four-star edge rusher Taven Epps. Epps is the No. 15 edge rusher and is a native of Tustin, California.
Per Rivals' Hayes Fawcett , Texas is making a push for 2027 running back David Gabriel Georges. Texas, the Tennessee Volunteers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Miami Hurricanes, Oregon Ducks and Georgia Bulldogs are the teams standing out to Georges.
Georges is a four-star recruit and the No. 3 running back in the Rivals Industry Rankings for his class. He will be attending the Texas-Ohio State game this Saturday.
Texas is also trying to keep one of its commitments from the 2026 class from leaving, as the Miami Hurricanes are heavily recruiting James Johnson . Johnson is the top defensive lineman in the class and is visiting Miami during its Week 1 game versus the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
The Longhorns are also trying to recruit prospects from other programs. Oregon Ducks commit Kesean Bowman revealed that he is trying to schedule a visit with Texas for the fall. He has been committed to Oregon since July 24, and already has visits planned with Tennessee and Ohio State.
Texas opens the year with Ohio State at Noon ET on Fox.
