Notre Dame Hot Takes for the Fighting Irish offense heading into the 2025 College Football season

We are just under two months until the Notre Dame 2025 season officially kicks off. Coming off of a 14-win season, there is a lot of optimism for head coach Marcus Freeman and the Fighting Irish program. This fanbase hasn’t been this excited in a very, very long time.

With it being the dead period of this offseason, there is no better time than a setting some hot takes heading into the season. Let’s start on offense. That includes some Jeremiyah Love legacy talk, a breakout star on the offensive line, and several records broken.

Jeremiyah Love resets the record books

Love is coming off a fantastic 2024 season, but it’s even more impressive to consider that he wasn’t even fully healthy down the final stretch. Despite that, the 6-0, 214-pound runner managed to come one rushing touchdown short of tying the single season record held by Audric Estime (18). I expect Love to beat that record in 2025.

Most people expect Jadarian Price to get a ton of touches, and they would be correct. That could prevent Love from accumulating a ton of rushing yards, but I still believe he could threaten the current single game record held by Vagas Ferguson at 1,437. Most who have watched Love know that he’s one of the best to wear the blue and gold historically, but he cements that this season.

Eli Raridon record

When you think of the best developers of tight ends in all of college football, Notre Dame is right near the top of the list. With players like Dave Casper, Mark Bavaro, Tyler Eifert, and Michael Mayer, it is an impressive list of outstanding players at the position throughout their history. While Eli Raridon will most likely not earn legendary status in 2025, he is going to be a very important player.

Most are projecting Raridon to take a massive step in 2025, and honestly, that tight end room needs it. Mayer holds the record for most touchdown receptions in a season for a tight end with nine. With Raridon’s 6-7, 250-pound frame, I like his chance to threaten that record this season.

Anthonie Knapp All American

Heading into the 2025 season, Charles Jagusah would have been by selection as the most likely All American up front. Without him more than likely for the first chunk of the season with an arm injury, a couple of the talented members up front are going to have to step up. My money is on Knapp, who heads into his second year as a starter.

As a true freshman, Knapp had some struggles in 2024, like every other freshman ever. Some people didn’t give him enough credit for improving throughout the season, and showing a ton of potential. I believe Knapp takes a massive step forward, and develops into one of the better offensive lineman in all of college football.
