It's no secret that Notre Dame is looking to add more pass catchers to its offense for 2024, and another talented wide receiver is set to visit campus. Notre Dame is hosting Washington State veteran receiver Josh Kelly today as the Irish continue their pursuit of experienced wideouts.
Kelly will be a sixth year senior in 2024, and this is the second time he'll be transferring. He came to Washington State after spending the four previous seasons at Fresno State. The 6-1, 192-pound receiver has 148 career receptions for 2,228 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Kelly had a solid career at Fresno State, but he broke out this past season in the Cougar offense. He caught 87 passes for 1,305 yards and four touchdowns in four seasons at Fresno State. His first season in Pullman was without question his best.
Kelly led the Washington State offense with 923 yards and eight touchdowns, and his 61 catches was second on the team. His 15.1 yards per catch was the best among the regulars in the offense.
His breakout performance came in a 38-35 upset victory over Oregon State, when Kelly caught eight passes for a career-high 159 yards and three touchdowns. He finished the season off with three straight 100-yard games against California (130), Colorado (130) and Washington (106).
Kelly battled injuries in 2022, finishing with just 12 catches for 207 yards in six games.
The 2021 season was his best with Fresno State, with Kelly catching 52 passes for 778 yards and three touchdowns. That season he caught eight passes for 120 yards in a 40-37 victory over UCLA and five catches for 107 yards in a win over then No. 21 San Diego State.
Notre Dame hosted Florida International wide receiver Kris Mitchell this past weekend and will host Clemson wideout Beaux Collins on Wednesday.
