Notre Dame Legend Calls Out Fanbase Before College Football Playoff Game

Aaron Taylor challenged Notre Dame fans to bring the noise to its College Football Playoff matchup against Indiana.

The No. 7 Fighting Irish will host the No. 10 Hoosiers on Friday, Dec. 20. Notre Dame fans have waited 36 years to see the illustrious program's 12th national championship, and those still searching for tickets must pay an astronomical price on the secondary market.

Ahead of the matchup, Taylor playfully goaded Notre Dame fans by questioning their vocal pipes. The former All-American offensive lineman encouraged anyone attending the game to create a frenetic home environment at South Bend.

"Here's my gripe with Irish fans. They're just not loud. It's not loud in that stadium," Taylor said on CBS Sports Network. "And I don't think Irish fans can be loud in that stadium, and it really embarrasses alumni how quiet it's been in that stadium. I wouldn't be surprised if Indiana beat us because it's so quiet there."

Taylor appeared to make the comments in jest, hoping fellow Notre Dame supporters would accept his challenge and raise the volume to uncomfortable levels for Indiana.

The former first-round pick and Super Bowl champion predicted that the Fighting Irish would "eke out enough of a running game" against a potent Hoosiers running defense to win.

Indiana has limited opponents to an FBS-low 70.8 rushing yards per game on just 2.5 yards per carry. On the other hand, Notre Dame ranks 10th in rushing offense behind Jeremiyah Love, who has found the end zone in every game this season and accrued 366 rushing yards in his last three games.

Notre Dame surprisingly lost its home opener to Northern Illinois, but Marcus Freeman's squad has since posted 10 straight victories. The Fighting Irish have scored the third-most points per game (40.8) and allowed the third-fewest (13.6).

Taylor will hope for bedlam at Notre Dame Stadium when the CFP game kicks off on Dec. 20 at 8 p.m. ET.
