Notre Dame Tight End Kevin Bauman Will Miss The 2025 Season With A Knee Injury
Mark J Rebilas, USA TODAY Sports

Tight end Kevin Bauman has suffered another devastating injury as Notre Dame announced the veteran has suffered yet another knee injury. According to Notre Dame, Bauman suffered an articular cartilage injury to his left knee, and that injury will require surgery that ends his sixth season with the program.

Bauman showed a lot of promise early in his career, but the injury woes started early for him. Bauman missed most of the 2021 season with an injury, playing just four games. Things started well in 2022, with Bauman hauling in a key pass for 22 yards to set up a touchdown in the season opener against Ohio State. He caught two more passes for 22 yards against Marshall, but his season ended after just three games due to injury. Bauman then missed all of the 2023 season while dealing with injuries.

This injury ends Bauman's career, as the veteran announced he was retiring from the sport after Notre Dame announced his season-ending injury. Bauman will end his career with six catches for 67 yards and a touchdown while playing 203 career snaps.

It was hoped for that Bauman could stay healthy in his sixth season after he worked hard to get back into the lineup. He looked really good in the Blue-Gold Game and was battling for the No. 2 spot behind starting tight end Eli Raridon. With Bauman out it puts a lot more pressure on redshirt freshman Jack Larsen and Arkansas transfer Ty Washington to solidify the depth chart. Bauman going out and Cooper Flanagan already being out with the injury he suffered against Indiana in the playoffs also means freshman James Flanigan will be counted on to provide an early impact. This is especially true in the run game.
