Ohio State Buckeyes are officially set to receive a visit from another Big Ten commitment soon
Adam Cairns/Columbus Dispatch-USA TODAY NETWORK

The Ohio State Buckeyes are coming off their off week and will travel out west to play the Washington Huskies to open up Big Ten play on Saturday. A number of Ohio State coaches were traveling over the last few days doing some recruiting for the Buckeyes. For the class of 2026, Ohio State has 21 commitments with a couple of recruits they still need to add to finish out the current group.

It was known that Ohio State was going to revisit a number of recruits this fall and see where they are in their senior seasons. The Buckeyes currently have the No. 9-ranked class in the country, per 247 Sports, and could soon be adding to that class. When Ohio State returns home from Washington, it’ll have a key recruiting weekend around the Minnesota game on Oct. 4.

A Maryland commitment is set to visit the Buckeyes to begin October

When Ohio State hosts Minnesota on Oct. 4, it’ll have one of Maryland’s top commitments on campus for a visit. Three-star CB Khmari Bing will be at Ohio State as a visitor that Saturday for a game time that has not yet been announced. Bing has been committed to Maryland since Aug. of 2024 as an in-state recruit from Baltimore. Bing is a 6-foot, 190-pound cornerback with other offers from programs like Alabama, Michigan, Penn State, Miami, and Florida.

The Buckeyes have just one cornerback committed so far for the class of 2026 and that is four-star Jordan Thomas. Ohio State is in good shape at the position with current freshman Devin Sanchez and sophomores Bryce West and Aaron Scott as the “youth” on the roster. Jermaine Mathews Jr. and Davison Igbinosun lead the room and could be off to the NFL after this season. Ohio State has some work to do in the current class with another addition needed and Bing could fit that role.

Ohio State getting Bing on campus for an official visit is huge and it means they have a chance to flip the Maryland commitment. The Buckeyes will be predicted to take care of business on the field against Minnesota, and off the field, it’ll be key to move the needle with some recruits. Bing is a name to keep an eye on for Tim Walton’s group.
