The Ohio State Buckeyes’ wide receiver recruiting has been unreal under current offensive coordinator Brian Hartline—there’s no other way to put it. Ohio State lands who they want year after year and consistently produces high-end NFL Draft picks at the position.
Most recently, Emeka Egbuka became the Buckeyes’ latest first-round selection in April, following Marvin Harrison Jr., who went No. 4 overall the year before. Now, Carnell Tate has a legitimate chance to be the next first-rounder in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Jeremiah Smith is a player the NFL is already anticipating for the 2027 draft—and he’s so talented, he could probably start for an NFL team next Sunday if needed. There are no signs of Ohio State slowing down on the recruiting trail, and now they have the attention of another five-star prospect.
Ohio State has already landed five-star 2027 wide receiver Jamier Brown and appears to be in a strong position to retain his commitment long-term. They stand in a great position with another five-star in the class, too. Five-star Brentwood Academy (TN) WR Kesean Bowman will be on campus for the season-opener against the Texas Longhorns.
“It was amazing. It was great being coached by Coach Hartline,” Bowman told Eleven Warriors after Ohio State’s June 17 camp. “He was coaching me hard, and I enjoyed learning from the best. I learned how to get in and out of my breaks, and the steps you need to take to do it as efficiently as possible.”
Bowman is ranked as the No. 23 overall player in the country and the No. 5 wide receiver in the 2027 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. The soon-to-be junior is listed at 6-foot and 174 pounds
Hartline, a former NFL receiver, joined Ohio State’s staff in 2017—just two years after his playing career ended—and has since risen to become one of the top assistant coaches in all of college football.
“He’s a dog—just brings a lot of energy,” Bowman said of Hartline, via Eleven Warriors. “He wants to win, and he wants to win every rep. He wants to perfect everything. He’s just a dog.”
Ohio State continues to dominate on the recruiting trail year in and year out, and wide receiver is the position they hit on most often. That’s a credit to the coach and recruiter Brian Hartline has become.
