Ohio State Buckeyes receive great news from elite recruit days after he committed to a major SEC program

Sunday proved to be a productive day for the Ohio State Buckeyes, as they secured their 14th commitment for the class of 2026.

Ohio State landed four-star running back Favour Akih, marking the program’s first running back commitment of the cycle. The month of June is shaping up to be a pivotal period for Buckeyes recruiting like it always is, with a flurry of official visits on the calendar.

Late Sunday night, more positive news broke for Ohio State: the Buckeyes are now set to receive an official visit from a recruit who recently committed to an SEC powerhouse.

Georgia Commit and Four-Star CB Justice Fitzpatrick to Visit Columbus

Four-star cornerback Justice Fitzpatrick, a Georgia commit out of St. Thomas Aquinas (FL), has scheduled an official visit to Ohio State. The announcement comes shortly after Fitzpatrick made his verbal pledge to the Bulldogs last Tuesday.

Fitzpatrick is currently ranked No. 47 overall and the No. 3 cornerback in the 2026 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. The 6-foot standout is also ranked No. 5 in the state of Florida and holds over 40 scholarship offers. He’s a prospect Ohio State has been pursuing for some time and hails from a high school program the Buckeyes’ staff knows well.

Ohio State already has two cornerbacks committed in the 2026 cycle—four-star prospects Jaeden Ricketts and Jordan Thomas. The Buckeyes are expected to take at least three defensive backs in this class, especially after landing five-star cornerback Devin Sanchez in the 2025 cycle.

Fitzpatrick’s scheduled visit to Columbus is an intriguing and noteworthy development, particularly in light of his recent commitment to Georgia. His recruitment is certainly one to keep an eye on.
