Ohio State Buckeyes had the best running back tandem in football last year and it helped them pave the way to a National Championship.
Landing Ole Miss transfer RB Quinshon Judkins in the transfer portal was huge for the Buckeyes to be able to pair him with TreVeyon Henderson. Both running backs put up 1,000 rushing yards and the Buckeyes will now watch them head off to the NFL.
Judkins put up a great performance at the NFL Scouting Combine and cemented himself as perhaps the best pound-for-pound running back in the draft. A 38.5 inch vertical and 132 broad jump were both above the 90th percentile at running backs with his size of 6 feet and 221 pounds.
In a recent mock draft here at A to Z Sports, Judkins lands with the Cleveland Browns in the third round. Judkins would instantly compete for the starting job in Cleveland and undoubtedly be the running back of the future for the Browns.
“Cleveland badly needs to nail their selection of a running back in this draft. Ohio State’s Quinshon Judkins fits the mold as an every-down back and he’s one of the most talented in the draft. When all is said and done, I wouldn’t be surprised if Judkins is the top back from this class.”
Judkins put up an ultra-productive college career over the last three seasons and he’s set up to be a Day 1 contributor in the NFL. Judkins is a physical back that is a problem to bring down and he runs very hard behind his pads. There is no such thing as a defender that Judkins doesn’t want to lower his shoulder through.
Landing in Cleveland would be something many Buckeye fans would want to see simply because a lot of Ohio State fans root for the Browns by default. Cleveland going from Nick Chubb to Judkins is a strong transition and one that would work out for Cleveland.
Judkins is expected to be one of perhaps 15 Buckeyes drafted next month. The NFL draft is a month from today in Green Bay, Wisconsin, so the real thing is inching closer and closer.
