The Ohio State Buckeyes will have a new starting quarterback for the third straight season. After Kyle McCord, it was the Will Howard era—for just one season. Now, the Buckeyes will once again hand the keys to the offense to a new signal-caller.
This fall, it will likely be either Julian Sayin or Lincoln Kienholz starting for Ohio State, and the position appears to be in good hands for the future with Tavien St. Clair also in the quarterback room.
While Ohio State doesn’t yet have a quarterback committed for the class of 2026, they’ve already secured their guy for 2027. In fact, the Buckeyes’ top overall commit—regardless of class—is already a fan of his future teammate’s game.
“He’s a really good quarterback. I just can’t wait to play with him in the future,” five-star wide receiver Jamier Brown said of Brady Edmunds, via Eleven Warriors. “It’s really good, because we’re going to be the future of this team, so I just can’t wait for it.”
Brown is ranked as the No. 5 overall player and the No. 1 wide receiver in the class of 2027, according to the 247Sports Composite. He already holds four-star quarterback Brady Edmunds in high regard and is clearly a fan of his game. Edmunds, the No. 6 quarterback in the 2027 class, has been committed to Ohio State since December of last year.
With the Buckeyes already locking in a top wideout and a top quarterback for 2027, they’re off to a strong start. The early chemistry between the two prospects is a promising sign.
Expect Brown and Edmunds to take on the role of peer recruiters as Ohio State continues building out its 2027 class—especially as both players enter their junior seasons of high school football.
