Oklahoma Football Has Its Worst NFL Draft In Over 20 Years

While many predicted the downfall of Oklahoma Football due to their decision to join the SEC, things happened way faster than anyone anticipated.

The Sooners had a horrendous first season in the SEC, which resulted in a pitiful showing in the 2025 NFL Draft, with the smallest draft class since 2002.

Two players were selected in the 2025 Draft, Danny Stutsman and Billy Bowman, who came off the board on Day Three. Stutsman was the first Sooner selected with the 112th pick of the draft, six spots ahead of Billy Bowman Jr., who the Falcons took at No. 116.

The two-player class was the Sooners’ smallest draft class in the last 23 years, with the group matching the 2000, 2001, and 2002 classes, which also had just two players reach the NFL.

Understandably, the situation caused some concern as Oklahoma has been a program that consistently brings in top talent in every high school recruiting class. The 2021 recruiting class that Stutsman and Bowman were a part of checked in as the nation’s sixth-best unit, and even included a former No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 Draft, Caleb Williams.

The numbers aren’t increasing in Norman over the last few years as their NFL Draft classes continue to shrink. OU saw five athletes selected in 2023, followed by three in 2024, and now just two this April.

Will the trend continue? Or will Oklahoma need to make a change? Only time will tell what lies ahead for the former Big 12 league member.
