Oklahoma Sooners won the two most important parts of the offseason, and no one else can say that

When it comes to the 2024 season, the Oklahoma Sooners obviously did not do enough the offseason prior to that, to have a good team. In the moment of everything, it felt like they were really making moves. And some of them were moves.

Looking back, they weren't making enough moves, especially when you compare it all to what they have done this offseason. The biggest win of the last offseason was the commitment of Michael Fasusi, easily -- a five-star offensive tackle for a team that desperately needed help on the offensive line.

When you look at the biggest wins this year, they don't even compete, and some of them aren't even recruiting from high school. This offseason has seen the Sooners win the two most important parts of the offseason: The fall transfer portal window and the spring transfer portal window.

Sooners win offseason through transfer portal window

In 2025, it's all about NIL and the transfer portal. It's a different time now in college football, but it's a time that you have to adapt to because if you don't, you will get left in the dust. The Sooners did that this offseason for sure. When all of their players left in the transfer portal, they attacked it right back and snagged some amazing players.

Some notable additions are all of the guys they got in the receiver room, Patrick Payton, Kendal Daniels, and so many others. But the most important ones, have to be the two guys that they got from each window, which would consider their offseason big wins.

In the fall window, the Sooners grabbed the best overall player in the transfer portal in John Mateer, the former Washington State quarterback. He was without a doubt the best player to enter the portal this offseason, and the Sooners landed him. Sure, having his former offensive coordinator in Ben Arbuckle helps, but he is in Norman nonetheless.

The big spring addition that they got has to be the transfer addition of former Cal running back Jaydn Ott, the best RB in the transfer portal. Ott can do it all out of the backfield, and getting a guy with the experience he has, is a huge win.

The Sooners won the offseason.
