- The Panthers have one of those guys at quarterback. Eli Holstein is 6-4, 225 pounds, and can wing the ball all over the yard. The former Alabama transfer stepped in and threw for over 2,200 yards and 17 touchdowns, and ran for 328 yards and three scores before getting banged up late in the season.

- The receivers are terrific, even with top target Konata Mumpfield gone. Kenny Johnson on the outside, Censere Lee at flanker, and Raphael Williams - “Poppi” led the team with six touchdown catches - are back. So is second-leading receiver …

- Running back Desmond Reid tied Mumpfield with 52 catches and led the way with 966 rushing yards and five scores. He’s an All-ACC caliber talent, and Justin Cook (East Stroudsburg) is a receiver and return man who’ll work as a running back.

- The line allowed way too many sacks and wasn’t great for the ground game, but it’s experienced on the right side, and gets back Lyndon Cooper at center. The portal is helping the cause with Kendall Stanley (Charlotte) and Jeff Persi (Michigan) both good tackle options, and Keith Gouveia (Richmond) at guard.
