The Big 12 Conference is having one heck of an offseason through the transfer portal, and some recent transfer portal rankings by Rivals reflect that.
Nearly half of the league is currently listed among the nation’s Top 25, with seven different teams earning spots on the list.
The seven featured teams are Texas Tech (No. 2), UCF (No. 10), West Virginia (No. 11), Arizona (No. 16), Kansas (No. 17), Oklahoma State (No. 18), and Colorado (No. 23).
Two of the biggest takeaways from the Top 25 revolve around Texas Tech’s incredible dominance and the surprising placements of teams with new head coaches.
While it’s no secret that Texas Tech has been getting after it in the transfer portal this offseason, they continue to add star after star. The 18-person group of incoming prospects is made up of 10 four-star portal players and eight three-star players. The Red Raiders have added five Top 100 players in the transfer portal with Micah Hudson, Tarrion Grant, Hunter Zambrano, David Bailey, and Howard Sampson all heading to Lubbock.
Surprisingly enough, the two teams with new head coaches in the Big 12, UCF and West Virginia, are the second and third-ranked programs in terms of transfer portal rankings in the Big 12, giving Scott Frost and Rich Rodriguez a great platform to start from.
While Big 12 fans will still have to wait a few more months to see each class in action, things are looking up for the league, with multiple teams taking a step forward in high-profile recruiting.
