Following a 34-23 victory for the Ohio State Buckeyes in the national title game of the College Football Playoff, head coach Ryan Day spoke with the media.
Day was asked to review the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff after he led Ohio State to a national championship over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
The Buckeyes coach had a one-on-one interview with ESPN analyst Rece Davis, where he explained the glaring issues with the scheduling of the College Football Playoff.
He deems the new format to have been "frustrating," given the Buckeyes having to navigate through the NIL process and transfer portal recruiting in the midst of the postseason.
"Frustrating is probably a fair word to use," Day said.
The Buckeyes have six incoming transfers, all of whom the team had to recruit during the preparation for the College Football Playoff.
These players include tight end Max Klare, offensive tackles Ethan Onianwa and Phillip Daniels, linebacker Ty Howard, EDGE Logan George and running back CJ Donaldson, per 247Sports.
Despite the conflicts with scheduling, since the transfer portal window opened on Dec. 9 and closed on Dec. 28, Day and his staff were still able to attract talent.
However, Day believes it's a "frustrating" process, having to juggle these major periods in the college football season.
