Ryan Williams has put up 573 yards and four touchdowns on 39 receptions in what has been quite a successful season for the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide. They hold an 8-2 record, ranking tied for third in SEC play at 6-1.
The Crimson Tide's eight-game winning streak was broken Saturday when the No. 11 Oklahoma Sooners bested them 23-21. Williams' team was leading at the end of the third quarter but lost the slim advantage by the end of the fourth.
Williams was involved in key plays during the loss. He fumbled on a punt return and later was the target on a fourth-down pass that fell incomplete in the closing moments. Those plays factored into Alabama’s failure to rally late.
After the game, on Sunday, fans received an interesting Williams update. He is scheduled for an in-store meet and greet at Dick's Sporting Goods in Tuscaloosa on Monday. The post invites fans to stop by for photos and autographs.
The event is scheduled for 3:30 in the afternoon with a special promo. The first 300 people receive a free poster.
Williams aspires to adopt Julio Jones' style of play. Jones was a member of the 2009 Alabama squad that won the national championship. The Alabama legend was then signed by the Atlanta Falcons, where he spent the majority of his NFL career.
"We were just talking about a couple of basic things just to help out in routes and when the ball is in the air,” Williams said about his interaction with Jones after the LSU Tigers game. “Nothing too serious. [We spoke] last year, a couple of times before then. It’s a blessing to be put in that conversation just because, honestly, it just means a lot."
