Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers has been batting a mild ankle sprain this week. The junior quarterback suffered the injury in the second quarter of Texas' 31-14 win over Kentucky in Week 13.
Per an update Thursday by Chip Brown of 24/7 Sports, Ewers' ankle sprain was not "progressing" as Texas had hoped earlier in the week.
Ewers wore a "stiff brace" during the Longhorns practices on Tuesday and Wednesday. (Monday's practice was a walkthrough.)
Per Brown, Ewers was not the only quarterback taking a fair share of practice snaps with the first team this week.
"Quinn took the first snaps with the first team offense, but he was definitely limited," a source told Brown.
Ewers had been listed as probable on Wednesday's and Thursday's injury report released by the SEC.
Per the injury report revealed on Friday night, the SEC listed Ewers is probable to play on Saturday.

Ewers appears ready to make his 10th start of the season. The six-foot-two, 210-pound quarterback missed two games earlier in the year due to an abdominal injury.
However, Ewers' mobility could be an issue for the Texas offense. The Longhorns offense relied heavily on their rushing attack in the second half of their win over Kentucky.
Ewers has completed 68% of his passes for 2,089 yards, 23 touchdowns and six interceptions in 2024.
If Ewers cannot play, the Longhorns could turn to Arch Manning. The freshman quarterback has completed 67.8% of his passes for 939 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions. He's 2-0 as a starter this season.
