Shedeur Sanders didn’t just have to wait until the fifth round to hear his name called in the NFL Draft — he had to watch as critics questioned his character in the days leading up to it.
Now, Shannon Sharpe is making it clear he’s not buying any of it.
On the latest episode of “Nightcap” with Chad Johnson, Sharpe stood behind Deion Sanders’ passionate defense of his son and took direct aim at the widely circulated rumor that Shedeur wore headphones during his pre-draft interviews.
“You know what I bet they did, Ocho?” Sharpe said. “He probably had the headphones around his neck and they talking like he had them on. I bet you that’s what they did.”
Sharpe’s comment builds on Deion’s earlier appearance on Asante Samuel’s podcast, where the Colorado coach and Hall of Famer blasted the entire narrative as fabricated.
“When you sit up there and say something like he went into a meeting unprepared...Shedeur Sanders? Come on,” Deion said. “Anybody who knows my son understands he’s a professional…You’re going to tell me he had on headphones? Y’all, come on now.”
Deion called the reports “some foolish stuff,” suggesting they were more about taking cheap shots at his kids than anything grounded in fact. He even linked the moment to the underdog edge that fueled legends like Tom Brady.
Sharpe echoed that sentiment, calling out how quickly unfounded claims get legs online. His take lines up with growing frustration over how the draft process often allows anonymous criticism to become the loudest narrative.
