There was drama, there was scrutiny, and there was certainly shock in how the 2025 NFL draft played out for Colorado Buffaloes star quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
After sitting through two full days without hearing his name called, Sanders was finally selected on Saturday afternoon. The Cleveland Browns traded up to the No. 144 spot to take him off the board — less than 24 hours after drafting Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel.
Now heading to Cleveland with a chip on his shoulder, Sanders wasted no time responding. Just minutes after being drafted, he posted a powerful three-word message that instantly captured attention.
"Thank you GOD," Sanders posted on X.
Thank you GOD

The post quickly went viral, racking up over 600,000 views within the first 10 minutes and sparking a wave of strong reactions from football fans across social media.
"They did you wrong, go prove em wrong," A fan said.
"I hope you will go into this amazing opportunity with a humble spirit. Confidence and humility can coexist. I’ll be cheering you on," another fan posted.
"Time to make every single team regret not choosing you. You have a bright future ahead of you Shedeur. It’s the person in the arena that counts. Monetize the haters," Someone else added.
"One more fan commented, "Lifelong Browns fan here, since the @BernieKosarQB days. Be great. You will have loyal fans for sure. Give us something to brag about! Welcome."
Sanders had an outstanding collegiate career, and just a month ago, there was serious talk about him being a contender for the No. 1 overall pick — or at the very least, a lock as the No. 2-ranked quarterback behind Cam Ward.
But after the NFL combine, his pro day, and a round of interviews with teams, his stock unexpectedly plummeted, and he slipped all the way to the fifth round. Now that he’s been drafted, it’s all about what he does with the opportunity — and with Cleveland in desperate need of quarterback help, the stage is set.
