Steelers and Penn State CB Joey Porter Jr. are a perfect pairing

The Steelers love to draft within the family, and there's a top prospect in the 2023 NFL Draft who would be a match made in heaven.

Penn State cornerback Joey Porter Jr., the son of former Steeler Joey Porter, has declared for the 2023 NFL Draft. Porter Jr. is one of the top cornerbacks in the class and a viable option for Pittsburgh.

The 22-year-old cornerback had 115 total tackles, 17 passes defensed, a sack, a forced fumble, and an interception in his collegiate career as a Nittany Lion, per ESPN.com.

The Steelers have a lot of holes to fill, but Porter Jr. could fill one they've been attempting to cement for years. CB Levi Wallace has been the most consistent player at the position for Pittsburgh this season, tallying three interceptions and 11 passes defensed.

Porter Jr. is ranked No. 34 on Pro Football Focus's big board. And don't forget, the Steelers traded WR Chase Claypool to the Bears for their 2023 second-round pick. That pick could be high in the second round given the Bears' record (3-10).

However, there's still a lot of time between now and the draft for Porter Jr.'s draft stock to rise. If that's the case, don't count the Steelers out of using their first-round pick on him.

It would not only make for a great pairing but also a great story. Some writers have already started prepping theirs for draft night.
