The Tennessee Vols haven't been perfect this season -- the offense has sputtered at times and the program has continued to experience some ups-and-downs on the road -- but it's still been an incredibly special season on Rocky Top.
Tennessee is one win away from reaching the 12-team College Football Playoff. If the Vols beat Vanderbilt in Nashville next Saturday, they'll be a playoff team in December.
Combine a potential playoff appearance with wins against Florida and Alabama and it's easy to say that this season (so far) has been a big success for the Volunteers.
Tennessee recorded its ninth win of the season on Saturday, taking down UTEP 56-0 in the final regular season home game of the year at Neyland Stadium.
According to stats expert Greg Harvey, Tennessee is now the first team in SEC history to score 50 points in four games in a single season while allowing 10 points or fewer in each of those games.
Only one SEC team in conference history has had four games in the same season with 50+ points scored while allowing 10 points or fewer:

Those four games were a 69-3 win against Chattanooga, a 51-10 win against NC State, a 71-0 win against Kent State, and a 56-0 win against UTEP.
Now, that obviously isn't a murders' row of opponents. But the Vols aren't the first team in SEC history to have a schedule that includes a few cupcake matchups (plenty of SEC teams can say the same this season...it's a normal occurrence in college football). Numerous programs have had the same opportunity to record the same accomplishment over the years. And yet only the Vols have actually done it. Regardless of the opponents, it's an impressive feat by Tennessee.
The Vols still have a lot of work to do this season, but it's been quite a year for Josh Heupel and the Tennessee football program.
