The Texas Longhorns coaching staff was available to the media on Tuesday.
Defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski, offensive coordinator Kyle Flood, and special teams coordinator Jeff Banks were the focal point of the day, but many assistant coaches spoke with the media afterward.
A variety of topics were discussed by each coach and several names appeared to pop up regularly. According to On Texas Football's CJ Vogel, six players were mentioned the most regarding true freshmen on campus. This is significant considering Texas brought in the No. 1 overall recruiting class in the nation for the 2025 cycle.
Edge Lance Jackson, tight end Nick Townsend, cornerback Graceson Littleton, cornerback Kade Phillips, edge Justus Terry, and linebacker Bo Barnes seemingly stuck out most to coaches over the summer.
That's great news for the Longhorns that true freshmen appear to be making a splash. Now that fall camp has started and pads will eventually go on, Texas will truly see what they have in these players.
Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian hasn't shyed away from playing true freshman in the past. See Kelvin Banks, Anthony Hill, Colin Simmons, CJ Baxter, and Xavier Worthy as prime examples. But they'll certainly have to earn that role in camp.
The Longhorns will kick off the season in Columbus against Ohio State on Aug. 30.
