The Texas Longhorns are reportedly a team to watch for a talented transfer tight end.
According to 247Sports, the Longhorns have "emerged as a team to watch" for California transfer tight end Jack Endries.
247Sports' Chris Hummer and Matt Zenitz noted that Endries is expected to visit Texas soon.
Endries, 6-foot-4/240 lbs from Danville, CA, is a former three-star recruit who signed with California during the 2022 recruiting cycle.
The California native caught 56 passes for 623 yards and two touchdowns for the Golden Bears last season. Endries also caught 35 passes for 408 yards and two touchdowns as a redshirt freshman in 2023.
Endries, who will be a redshirt junior in 2025, has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
The Longhorns are in need of a transfer tight end due to thin depth at the position (redshirt freshman Jordan Washington is out with a collarbone injury).
“Our numbers are really down at tight end,” said Texas head coach Sarkisian earlier this spring.
We'll see how things trend with Endries, but I'm sure the former California tight end would enjoy catching passes from quarterback Arch Manning this fall.
